So, 19 years ago this day, I left Gochang, South Korea with my family to head to the United States. Today, I have made my way back here to live and teach for a year. A poetic start to my grant year... right?
Anyway, I owe it to a lot of people to cap off what I have been doing this far, so here it is.
On July 1st, I left the United States for South Korea to participate in the Fulbright Korea ETA program. Today was the last day of Orientation. We had been staying at Jungwon University in Goesan, South Korea. The Marble Palace. Orientation gave the ETAs a lot of time to bond and make treasured friendships. The usual day consisted of:
7:30: Wake up
8 - 9:00: Breakfast
9:00 - 1:00: Korean Language Classes
1 - 4:00: Random Workshops
4 - 12:00: Extracurriculars/Homework/Free time
It was insanely busy, but now that I think about it, insanely rewarding. It was one of those shared experiences I'll remember for the rest of my life.
We've gone on lots of excursions, too many for me to post details on them all. I'll attach some photos to let you guys see some of the stuff we have done.
Today, I met my principal, co-teacher, and my host family. My host family consists of 2 siblings (elementary school brother & sister) and the parents. I hope I will be able to enjoy my stay.
Since mass blogging like this is tiring, I'll post things as they come up more diligently.
Until then,
- Anthony
